Cape Jogasaki Cliffs (Cape Jogasaki, Shizuoka Prefecture)
View of the waves crashing agains the steep cliffs along the Cape Jogasaki coastline (Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan). The cliffs were formed by a large lava flow that reached the ocean from a nearby volcano, Mt. Omuro. The lava flowed (approx. 4,000 years ago) to the sea and cooled when hitting the sea surface creating columnar joints.
